About Ole Marius Stene

Ole Marius Stene was born in Norway on January 13, 1893. He later emigrated to America (between 1912 and 1915) and became a United States citizen, serving in the military during World War I. His birth date is confirmed in his Army records. While working the wheatfields of the Dakotas, he enlisted and was inducted into the Army in Towner, ND on Sept 18, 1917; sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa; served in Battery C, 338th Field Artillery, to Oct 4, 1917; Supply Company, 338th Field Artillery, to Nov. 25, 1918; 133rd Transportation Company, Transportation Corps, to discharge. Grades: Wagoner, Oct 23, 1917, Corporal, Feb. 1, 1919; overseas from Aug. 15, 1918, to July 4, 1919. Discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa on July 16, 1919, as a Corporal.
